No noise from the pickups means a much improved In-Ear Monitor feed than I’ve been used to with single coils. The EQ points are well-selected and responsive with quality pots. Nice balance and weight too. Overall a magnificent bass that does the most important thing – makes you want to practice more 😊 Also helps that it looks fantastic! Big thanks to Andrew for getting it to me in time for my weekend gig, and bonus points for the thermal wrapping on the bass to protect it from heat shock on opening. Cheers! Kevin

I was looking for a modern take on a jazz bass and after hearing positive reviews I bit the bullet and bought one, I certainly wasn’t disappointed. I met with Andrew (an absolute gentleman) when I went to pick up the bass, he talked me through the development of his instruments and gave me detailed instruction on the use of the tone controls. It’s a definite plug in and play guitar and sounds superb, it balances perfectly and has a wide range of classic sounds with a punchy modern twist. The fit and finish is faultless and Andrew fettles each instrument in his workshop prior to sending them out, what more could you want !!! Overall a fantastic instrument for a great price and very highly recommended…go check out Anaconda basses and try one, you won’t be disappointed. This is a terrific bass. The electronics provide for a large tonal palate. The fit and finish were excellent. At this price point, I don't know of another bass that seriously competes with it. BTW, Andrew is great to work with.

As an 'offshore' instrument, I expected the Ultra J Essence bass to be well put together, but limited by the modest price tag. I'm happy to say it's exceeded my expectations in every way - very well built, beautifully finished, quality hardware and components, and more importantly, fun and easy to play, with great clarity and punch, and an even response right across the neck. Unlike some fivers I've played, the B string feels fully integrated with the bass, with a crisp, piano-like tone. I'm very impressed, and it's going to be my go-to jazz from here on in.

Andrew has done it again! This bass is my second Ultra J5 that was recommended by Jamal Nichols himself. Once I received it, it instantly became my workhorse, go to bass...when the opportunity came to get another, I went for the Jahmal Signature bass...this bass was setup and ready to go right out the box! Incredible tone, deep bass and crispy highs...the white body and gold knobs really shine here...and sustain from the bridge is killer...this bass will hit the stage on 12-21-24 and I'm fully confident she will shine! I’m very happy with my Ultra J5. It’s a very clear, tight and big sounding modern jazz bass that sits great in the mix. I love the 34,5 inch scale and the tonal options of the eq section. Fantastic bass!!! I bought the Ultra J Essence 6, I have owned many basses from low budget to extremely high end, but this bass is by far THE best sounding bass I have ever owned. Its just perfect in every way, fit, finish and most importantly, SOUND! The pickups are extremely clear, fluid and powerful. This bass has been the 6 string sound that I have been searching out for a long time. Now I definitely have to order a 5 string. THANK YOU Andrew for building such a GREAT product, being a true class act and providing great customer service, this is what all instruments manufacturers should be.
