Andrew Taylor-Cummings

Founder Owner & Master Luthier - Anaconda Basses

Andrew Taylor-Cummings is the founder of Anaconda Basses, a UK-based bass guitar brand established in 2013. With over two decades of professional luthiery experience and more than 30 years as a bass player, Andrew has built a reputation for designing and producing high-performance instruments that combine precision engineering with musicality.

What began as a personal pursuit—modifying and refining his own instruments—quickly evolved into a dedicated craft. Andrew’s deep understanding of tone, playability, and real-world performance informs every instrument he creates. His work is driven by a relentless focus on detail, from pickup voicing and electronics design through to ergonomics, balance, and finish.

Andrew’s background in Software Development and Agile Project Management brings a unique, structured approach to luthiery. He applies iterative design principles, continuous improvement, and production efficiency to ensure that every instrument delivers maximum value without compromising on quality. This mindset has also enabled him to bridge the gap between boutique craftsmanship and scalable production, offering both handmade UK-built instruments and premium factory-produced models.

Under Andrew’s leadership, Anaconda Basses has gained international recognition, with instruments played by top professional artists and distributed across multiple global markets. His designs have been showcased at major industry events, including the London Bass Guitar Show, NAMM in Los Angeles and the UK Guitar & Bass Show, reinforcing the brand’s growing presence on the world stage.

At the core of Andrew’s philosophy is a clear mission: to give more bass players access to professional-grade instruments that inspire confidence and creativity. Central to this is his signature concept of “Monster Tone”—a balance of clarity, power, and articulation that allows the instrument to cut through the mix while retaining depth and musicality.

Andrew continues to innovate across all areas of the business, from hardware and electronics development to manufacturing strategy and brand expansion, ensuring that Anaconda Basses remains at the forefront of modern bass design.
